Before starting the car for the first time, I needed to fill fluids and install the exhaust piece that fit onto the collector. Installing the exhaust was pretty easy, but I had to slightly bend the mounting bracket to make the exhaust fit.
Getting the brakes setup was an easy process:
1- Fill brake master cylinder
2- Crack nipple off left rear brake
3- Pump brake pedal
4 - Hold brake pedal down
5 - Tighten nipple
6 - Pump brake pedal 3 times
7 - Hold brake pedal down
8 - Crack then retighten nipple
Repeat steps 2 - 8 until no bubbles come out.
The order for brakes is -
1 - Left rear
2 - Right rear
3 - Right front
4 - Left front
To fill the clutch. I attached a hose to the nipple on the bell housing. I then repeated the same brake filling process with the clutch.
To fill the radiator, I first filled the coolant expansion tank and then filled the radiator directly. Once the car starts, I will add extra fluid as it starts circulating.
The engine came prefilled with oil, so I just checked the levels.

Hi Colin,
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog and I think you have done an great job documenting your Caterham build. Just saw the final results.....Looks amazing!
I also wanted to let you know that none of the photos that you posted between May 3rd and May 30th (except for the First Start pics) are appearing. It might be my browser, but the same thing happens when I view your blog on my phone. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.
Congratulations on your build!
Mike
Hi Mike,
DeleteThank you!
As for the pictures thanks for alerting me. It seems to be a problem on my end, and I am working on fixing them.
