Suspension Tuning

A-Frame and Roll Bar

The next step in the rear suspension was the A-frame. Although the A-frame is a relatively simple component, getting correct the spacing of washers is tough. The A-frame needs to align the Dedion Tube tube perfectly in the center of the chassis. To start this, I attached the apex of the A-frame onto the bottom of the Dedion Tube. The first time I left the bolt mounting the A-frame to the Dedion Tube loose, but after getting the correct alignment I realized that tightening the bolt would change with the alignment. So I tightened the bolt and started the spacing process over.

I played around with a few washer setups but was never able to guess correctly. After reading online, I came across a blog post mentioning three washers on one side and four on the other. I tried this, and it worked perfectly. I then tightened the A-frame and re-checked the spacing.

The next part was getting the rear anti-roll bar in place. The only tricky part here was slipping the orange rubber pieces onto the roll bar. I did this using lots of spray lubricant and a screwdriver. I then placed it in the clamps and tightened it.
